Northcote Social Club Owners To Launch Sydney Venue

Music booker says 'there's nothing to promote yet'.

The team behind Melbourne venues The Corner and the Northcote Social Club are gearing up to launch a new venue in Sydney's inner-West, Newtown Social Club.

It is believed that a venue will be built from the ground up in Newtown, and it is unclear if live music will feature immediately.

Today Way Over There's Richard Moffat – who books the Melbourne venues – told theMusic.com.au that there was “essentially nothing to promote yet”. He said there would be further information “as soon as the space is built and ready to open”.

Confirmation of the venue came when a Facebook page was created this week. On the page the venue is described as, “A free entry social club with friendly staff, great food, great drinks and all our favourite local, national and international tunes pumping through the place.”

Owner's added that there will be “a self-contained band room” but said further details would be announced in the future.

It is expected that the Newtown Social Club will cater for similar sized artists as the Melbourne venues do. The Northcote Social Club will host the likes of Grails, Hungry Kids Of Hungary and The War On Drugs before the end of the year, while The Corner has the likes of Last Dinosaurs, Deep Sea Arcade, The Saints and The Living End's Melbourne run of shows.
