Which show was the most outstanding of all?
The nominees for the 2013 Barry Awards have been revealed this morning, with seven shows from the Melbourne International Comedy Festival fighting it out to be named the most outstanding of the event.
This year marks the 16th since the awards, which are named after the festival's first patron Barry Humphries, began and are voted on by a number of media representatives and industry professionals. In order to be nominated, each show must have been performed a minimum of ten times throughout the festival period.
This year's nominees are:
Max and Ivan – Max and Ivan are… Con Artists
Hannah Gadsby – Happiness is a Bedside Table
Michael Workman – Ave Loretta
Rich Hall
Trevor Noah – The Racist
Kitty Flanagan – Hello Kitty Flanagan
John Conway – The New Conway Tonight Show

The nominees for the 2013 Golden Gibbo award were also announced this morning and are as follows:
Kate McLennan & Wes Snelling - Standard Double
Simon Keck - Nob Happy Sock
Slutmonster and Friends
Steven Stagg, Stephen Curry and Bob Franklin - The Writers
Tommy Bradson - Sweet Sixteen or The Birthday Party Massacre
This Saturday 20 April the winners of both awards will be announced at the Festival Club at the Hi Fi Bar, as as will the winners of the The Best Newcomer Award, The Directors' Choice Award and The Piece of Wood (comics choice award).
