Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds ProfilePush The Sky Away, the 15th studio record from Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, has seen the Australian musician and his band storm the charts like never before in its first week of release.
Earlier this week it was confirmed that the record would give Cave his first ever number one album in his home country, debuted in the top spot on the ARIA charts this week, but now it looks as if he's performing better in a large number of other major territories as well.
As well as in Australia, the album went to number one in Austria, Belgium, Holland, New Zealand and Portugal, number two in Germany, Greece, Norway and Poland, and number three in the UK, Finland and Ireland.
In the USA he has debuted at number 29 on the Billboard Album Chart – his highest to date – and is in the number one position on the Billboard Current Alternative Chart, the Indy/Small Chains Chart and the LP/Vinyl Albums Chart.
Push The Sky Away is the first release on Cave's own Bad Seed Ltd. label, distributed worldwide through Kobalt Label Services. It has scored some pretty tidy reviews in the past couple of weeks as well.
The band are currently on tour in Australia – read what we thought of their first Sydney Opera House show – and head to SxSW after these shows to continue their world tour, and no doubt generate a little more interest Stateside.
