Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds ProfileThe innovative 20,000 Days On Earth film, which follows Nick Cave's 20,000 day on earth, will open this year's Sydney Film Festival.
The first feature length effort of UK visual artists Iain Forsyth and Jane Pollard, and the screening of the highly visualised film will be an Australian premiere.
It'll screen at the State Theatre Wednesday 4 June.

In a joint statement the filmmakers said, “We're blown away to be invited to open the mighty Sydney Film Festival. It's a total thrill to bring the film not only to Nick's home country but also back to the city where we shot the climactic live performance at Sydney Opera House that closes 20,000 Days On Earth.”
The film follows Cave through the recording of latest album Push The Sky Away, sessions with his therapist and conversations with friends like Kylie Minogue, Ray Winstone and Warren Ellis. The whole thing is narrated by Cave himself.
Festival Director Nashen Moodley added, “We are very proud to confirm this eagerly anticipated Australian Premiere as our Opening Night Film. Imaginative, intimate, daring and defying easy categorisation, 20,000 Days on Earth is not just a scintillating portrait of a visionary artist, but a tremendous work of art in itself.”
The first films on the 2014 festival program were announced last week (see our guide to the top selections here), with the full program due Wednesday 7 May.
Tickets are available now, with a limited number of 'film and party' tickets that provide access to the afterparty at Bungalow 8 on sale also.
