Beloved Sydney bar Freda's has been granted an extended licence, enabling them to continue showcasing new artists and emerging musical talent.
Great news! Freda’s in Chippendale has been approved to extend its trading hours until 4am on Friday and Saturday nights. Granted by Liquor & Gaming NSW, these measures come into effect immediately, along with a 2am close for the rest of the week (including Sundays!).
“We have seen Sydney’s nightlife go through a sad and painful decline over the last 6 years. However, this is an important turning point in Sydney reaching its immense potential as a late-night city,” says Freda’s owner David Abram.
Since opening in 2011, Freda’s has become an essential part of Sydney’s music and culture scene. It has provided a much-loved space for showcasing both emerging and established artists in an intimate setting. It has also proven to be a key venue in enabling young artists to showcase their work. Abram notes, “We believe that safe, diverse, intelligent, and cultured spaces for like-minded people to connect and create are an essential part of a city’s heartbeat.”
There are plenty of opportunities for you to take advantage of these new hours with Freda’s hosting an official launch party to celebrate the new hours next Friday, May 10. More news on that soon.
