The New Globe Theatre won't open tonight.

A former Brisbane venue is to be given new life as the New Globe Theatre opens up in the city's live music hub of Fortitude Valley. Unfortunately a snag has been hit, though, and the venue won't be opening its doors tonight as planned.

A free show had been organised by the venue to give people a chance to explore the rejuvenated space – which was an operation live music venue and movie theatre until recently – but legal issues have prevented that from happening tonight.

“For legal reasons beyond the control of the New Globe we are postponing tonight's event,” venue manager Paul Robinson said in a Facebook post this afternoon. “We are sorry to advise this however the reasons are genuinely beyond our control. We will be opening tomorrow for the Queensland Festival of Blues.”

Robinson says a rescheduled launch event has been slated for Thursday 14 November. Tonight's launch was to feature performances from The Bertie Page ClinicDie Rude, Sugar Shakers, Phoncurves and Cleveland Blues.
