Cloud Control, The Rubens and more also confirmed
'This is not a drill', says the Mushroom Group – a new track from The Avalanches is on its way.
The independent music group have today announced that an “extraordinary album” that will feature music from the dance mash-up legends as well as Cloud Control, Matt Corby & Missy Higgins, The Rubens and more.
A teaser website has been set-up and has begun revealing names of artists who will appear on the record. Further names will be revealed up until Thursday 8 August, in two days time.
The reality of new material from The Avalanches is sure to relieve fans, who've long been teased with the possibility. The band's 2000 album Since I Left You is considered a cornerstone of Australian electronic music and the rumoured follow up would be one of the most anticipated albums of the last decade.

Twelve months ago the band released a demo version of A Cowboy Overflow Of The Heart, with Silver Jews' David Berman, and collaborations with Ariel Pink and Cut Copy have also been touted. Further snippets of new material appeared in the King Kong musical's soundtrack.
The 15-track compilation is part of the company's 40th anniversary celebrations, which has included re-issues and gigs so far, and the label are also expected to announce a Hunters & Collectors tribute album in the near future.
UPDATE: Modular Recordings have today issued a statement that the track on the Mushroom album is not new Avalanches material, rather a remix of the song Talking To A Stranger for a forthcoming tribute album. Given that is the title of a famous Hunters & Collectors song, we believe we have an idea of what this secret album might be...
Their full statement is as follows:
"Further to an announcement from the Mushroom Group earlier today, The Avalanches have done a remix of Talking To A Stranger (not a new track) for an upcoming tribute album.
"The remix is cut up with an old disco sample, and is not new music from The Avalanches.
"The Avalanches are currently still in the studio, putting the finishing touches on the follow up to 2000's internationally acclaimed Since I Left You."
