Dan McCafferty, vocalist of classic rock group Nazareth has suffered a stroke on stage in Switzerland, AAP reports, forcing the band to cancel all of their forthcoming shows.

It's not the first time McCafferty's ill health has forced the band to scrap a show, in July the group were over an hour late for a show in Canada after the vocalist complained of having difficulty breathing. They eventually went on stage, but the frontman collapsed a mere 30 seconds into their show.

While the band are yet to make any statement about McCafferty's health, but they have removed all forthcoming tour dates from their official website.

Classic Rock report that Xavier Weijtens, promoter of the Vosterfeesten festival, which Nazareth were supposed to headline on the weekend, said there were fears for his health.

Though another source close to the band, Andreia Cosme, says that McCafferty's health is fine, but the future of the band is in doubt.

“Dan is alright, but I think we will not see more.”

The band are in the process of recording their 24th album.
