'The Waterfall' will be out locally on 1 May
US alt-psych country-rock veterans My Morning Jacket have unveiled a ream of details pertaining to the release of their impending seventh full-length record, The Waterfall.
The album, which marks the band's first new release since 2011's Circuital, has been slated for release locally on Friday, 1 May, via Spunk Records/Capitol Records. Recorded in California (Stinson Beach, if you want to get specific) with producer/engineer Tucker Martine (The Decemberists, Modest Mouse, Neko Case), the album, as with My Morning Jacket's previous works, is very much a product of its surroundings.
"For me, every record has the spirit of where we made it," singer/guitarist/primary songwriter Jim James said in a statement. "Stinson Beach was so psychedelic and focused. It was almost like we lived on our own little moon out there. It feels like you're up in the sky."
Added keyboardist Bo Koster: "Out of all the places we've recorded, I think that place might have informed the record on a spiritual level more than any other. If you listen to Like A River, it just sounds like Stinson Beach.
