The highly experienced Lisa Bishop will take the reins in January
The MusicSA board has announced its new General Manager, with the role going to experienced candidate long-time public servant Lisa Bishop.
Bishop will take up her new post as General Manager of the state's peak contemporary music organisation in January 2015, relieving present caretaker and Managing Director PJ Murton. Murton was appointed to the role in July this year, replacing former General Manager David Grice.
Murton will resume his regular position on the MusicSA board, which today acknowledged Murton's efforts during the caretaker period. A statement says his "passion and commitment to MusicSA has ensured the smooth continuation of the organisation during the recruitment and transition period to a new General Manager".
Bishop comes to MusicSA after more than 20 years as a company director and stints in the private, public and non-profit sectors across departments including management, HR, governance and business development. She has worked across the arts, tourism, retail and health, and film and television industries.

"There is currently unprecedented support for contemporary music in South Australia from policy-makers across all levels of government," Bishop said in a statement. "I'm thrilled to be working with the MusicSA board and staff to drive positive change that capitalises on the current local and state government support, the recommendations of the Thinker's Report and the outstanding achievements of MusicSA to date."
