Sydney artists, managers and other music industry personalities stand to gain from the benefit of education when MusicNSW, Arts Law and Sydney TAFE Music collaborate to present Better Get Yourself A Lawyer!, "an evening of discussion and advice" from some of the country's foremost industry lawyers, representatives and advocates.
Hosted by MusicNSW Education Officer Jake Stone, the evening's speakers will canvass a broad array of topics such as management, label and booking contracts; publishing and sync agreements; business structures; booking agents; merchandising; copyright issues; and dispute resolution.
The presenters include Simpsons Solicitors' Jules Munro, The Arts Law Centre's Anika Valenti, Julia Kosky of Brett Oaten Solicitors, Urthboy/Hermitude/Elefant Traks associate Tim Levinson, APRA/AMCOS' Jonathon Carter, Ben Fletcher of Moneypenny Business & Taxation Services, and the Media Entertainment & Arts Alliance's Katie Wighton and Martin Cubby.
Better Get Yourself A Lawyer! will be held from 6pm-8pm on Tuesday, July 22, at Sydney TAFE, The Apprentice, 695-731 Harris Street (Level 7). It's totally free, but you must RSVP to jake@musicnsw.com by midday on Monday, July 21.
