MTV To Launch Two New Channels Into Australian Market

They will be “100 percent music focused”.

The Australian arm of iconic music television programmer MTV has today announced they would launch two new channels onto the Pay TV market as of late this year, with MTV Music and MTV Dance both set to premiere on Australian TV screens from Tuesday 3 December, The Music Network reports.

While there is as yet no confirmation as to the quotas of local music that will be supported by the new channels, it is believed that the remaining Australian based team members of the network will work in cooperation with the centralised programmers, who are based in the UK.

The network has posted a little teaser as to what we can expect from MTV Music.

Here's a look at the new MTV Dance, which will be entirely focused on dance, R&B and hip hop.

The two channels will replace MTV Hits and MTV Classic on Foxtel, but those channels will remain for Fetch TV subscribers.

Speaking with The Music Network, MTV's Director in Australia and New Zealand Simon Bates said there would be no new VJ talent sought for the stations at this time.
