Melbourne Theatre Company Have Unveiled Their 2020 Program

Featuring Shakespeare as scored by Kate Miller-Heidke, and William McInnes and Genevieve Morris in 'The Heartbreak Choir'.

Melbourne Theatre Company have launched their 2020 season, which boasts a brand new production of Shakespeare's As You Like It, with music by Kate Miller-Heidke and Keir Nuttal

The season of 12 plays features new Australian works by writers like Benjamin Law, a musical based on an Alison Bechdel graphic novel, and turns from Australia's most loved actors, from Rhys Muldoon to Jane Turner to Genevieve Morris

Kath & Kim's Jane Turner and Nikki Shiels star in the season opener Home, I'm Darling, a play about one woman's attempt to be the perfect 1950s housewife in the 21st century. 

Benjamin Law's first play is the comedy Torch The Place, about family and hoarding, and stars Michelle Lim Davidson. 

Rhys Muldoon features in a QTC co-production of David Williamson's Sydney-skewering classic Emerald City.  

Buzz playwright Joanna Murray-Smith's new work Berlin sees two young people finding each other in a cool bar in the German capital, grappling with each other, and their own secrets, before they grapple with the history of Berlin.

SLAP. BANG. KISS. by Dan Giovannoni is part of MTC's Families And Education Program, which will tour through regional Victoria and Tasmania, about young people on the cusp of staring a revolution. 

Dan Spielman stars in Sexual Misconduct Of The Middle Classes, a modern take on student-teacher romance, that unpacks modern gender politics.  

William McInnes and Genevieve Morris star in The Heartbreak Choir, a comedy set in regional Victoria, that explores the redemptive power of community. 

Lisa McCune and Lucy Maunder bring to life STC co-production Fun Home, a musical based on the graphic novel by Alison Bechdel, creator of the 'Bechdel test'. 

The Sam Shepard classic True West, featuring Josh McConville, will tell the story of two brothers each grasping towards the American dream, in very different ways. 

MTC's new production of Shakespeare's comedy As You Like It features Christie Whelan Browne, and a score by Kate Miller-Heidke and Keir Nuttal. 

One-woman show Girls & Boys by the writer of Matilda The Musical, Dennis Kelly, has its Australian premiere in the MTC 2020 season. 

Sunshine Super Girl closes the season with the story of Evonne Goolagong Cawley, the tennis legend who, until Ash Barty this year, was the most recent Aussie woman to hold the top ranking in 1976.
