Sydney indie-pop singer Montaigne has been announced as one of three artists to take part in a brand new regional touring music event.
The experience entitled The Set List gives young emerging musicians the opportunity to reach new audiences in regional areas throughout Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia.
Also joining Montaigne on the road this October includes fellow Sydney act I Know Leopard and Perth hip-hop act, Coin Banks.
The event, launched by performing arts touring organisation Arts On Tour, is to provide an all expenses-paid trip for the Aussie artists made possible by the Australia's Council Playing Australia program and in a move to give power back to the regional communities, a youth panel will be engaged at each location on the tour to determine which of the three acts will play in their town.

AOT General Manager Heather Dransfield said their connections with regional centres and the desire for new acts inspired the project.
"We have a great network of amazing regional performing arts centres always on the look-out for quality acts to present. So we’ve joined the dots and created a project that looks after both the artists and these regional venues."
The Set List will allow young people in each town to engage with the project including poster design competitions and music journalism.
"...There are many ways to join the live music world and being a musician is only one of them. Music writers, promoters, tech crews and even graphic designers are all helping to make the music world go ‘round," Dransfield said.
"We’re hoping that The Set List will open some of those doors for young music fans."
Which act will play at each regional venue will be announced in the coming months — for more information, including the towns in which the the event will take place, check out the event website.
