Mitski To Make Vivid LIVE Debut With Four-Night Residency At Sydney Opera House

Indie rock sensation Mitski will return to Australia this year and has been named the first act to perform as part of Sydney’s Vivid LIVE 2026 program.

Today, the Your Best American Girl singer has announced global tour dates in support of her forthcoming album, Nothing’s About To Happen To Me, including exclusive Australian dates at the Sydney Opera House. The shows mark Mitski’s first Australian shows since 2019.

In addition to her newly announced Sydney shows – four nights at the iconic venue, from Friday, 29 May, to Monday, 1 June – Mitski has plotted residencies in major cities across the globe. She’s the first artist revealed to perform at this year’s Vivid LIVE event, and joins legendary residency alums in The Cure (five nights in 2019), Solange (four nights in 2018) and Bon Iver (four nights in 2016).

Pre-sales for Mitski’s exclusive Australian shows will be available from next week. Fans signed up to the singer’s website can access tickets from 10 am local time on Wednesday, 11 February. The next pre-sales are available on the same day: Sydney Opera House Insiders and What’s On tickets will be available from 11 am and 2 pm local time, respectively.

The Spotify pre-sale opens on Thursday, 12 February, at 10 am local time, followed by the general sale on Friday, 13 February, at 10 am local time. You can find more ticketing information on the Sydney Opera House website.

Today’s announcement coincides with the release of the second single from Nothing’s About To Happen To Me, I’ll Change For You. Effortlessly wistful, the mid-tempo tear-jerker features Mitski singing, “‘Cause I’ll do anything/ For you to love me again/ If you don’t like me now/ I will change for you.”

Set for release on Friday, 27 February, via Dead Oceans, Mitski’s new album finds the artist immersed in a dynamic narrative following a reclusive woman in an unkempt house. However, outside her home, the album’s protagonist is a deviant, whereas inside her home, she is free.

Mitski wrote and sang all the vocals on Nothing’s About To Happen To Me. Produced and engineered by longtime collaborator Patrick Hyland and mastered by Bob Weston, Mitski follows the experimental path she introduced on 2023’s The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We, with live instrumentation by The Land touring band and ensemble arrangements.
