Aussie indie pop act Kids At Midnight is set to have her music heard by a global audience with the news that her track will feature on an upcoming Netflix TV series.
The 2019-released track, Boys Like You, from the solo project by Melbourne artist Jane Elizabeth Hanley will close the final scene of the first season of Never Have I Ever, written and produced by Mindy Kaling (The Office, The Mindy Project), which premieres on Netflix next week.
Hanley, who has been self-releasing her music on her own label Square Pleasure since 2015, confirmed that the production team reached out late last year about using the indie synth pop for the final episode of the first season.
"Mindy Kaling is a personal hero of mine. I’ve had an unhealthy reliance on The Office since it’s air date and I love her unashamedly nerdy rom-com perspective in her other projects," Hanley said.

Hanley continued, "The fact it’s being used on a Mindy Kaling-written Netflix series with the tagline ‘High-key nerds. Low-key virgins…’ it’s perfect.
"And the fact that it plays over the big finale moment is too much! That’s the most '80s teen movie thing that could ever happen to this little song I made in my bedroom.
"I can’t wait to watch it!”
Boys Like You will appear on Kids At Midnight’s debut album expected to drop later this year, while Never Have I Ever will hit Netflix on 27 April.
