Michael Hutchence Documentary Failed To Bring In The Viewers Last Night

New Michael Hutchence documentary, Michael Hutchence: The Last Rockstar, promised to make "headlines around the world" but it failed to bring in the viewers following its premiere last night. 

As TV Tonight reports, part one of the two-part series only managed to attract a viewership of 526,000 and finished 18th overall for the night, behind shows such as Law & Order, The Chase Australia, Home & Away and Q&A, which featured Jimmy Barnes.

In contrast, the most watched show on Monday night, The Block, brought in over 1.4 million viewers. 

To be fair to the documentary, its two-hour running time meant that it went up against a number of flagship shows on rival networks, however the result is still disappointing considering the hype around it. 

INXS yesterday spoke out against the documentary, saying they were "never approached" about the project, however producer Michael Llewellyn hit back at the comments in an interview with The Music.
