The veteran singer-songwriter and his merry band have two shows lined up Down Under next month
Venerated, versatile troubadour Michael Franti and his long-time band, Spearhead, are no strangers to local shores, and they're looking to reacquaint themselves with their friends Down Under once again with a lightning-quick two-show visit to the country this September, proudly presented by The Music.
Arriving on the heels of the band's present extensive tour of the United States, Michael Franti & Spearhead will kick off their impending sojourn at The Croxton, Melbourne, on Wednesday 28 September, rounding out the next night at Sydney's Metro Theatre.
The visit also follows the recent release of the band's newest and ninth studio full-length, Soulrocker, which made its arrival in June to broad acclaim, including a #1 debut on the iTunes Alternative Album Chart. The album draws on a diverse array of genres and influences, including hip hop, EDM, reggae and more, maintaining the activist bent with which Franti has infused his music over the years; in fact, he says, such elements are arguably more important now than they ever have been.
"Right now is a very challenging time for people, for our nation and the planet," Franti said in a statement, "but I really believe that music can help fight war and violence and hatred.
