Revered Australian promoter Michael Chugg of Chugg Entertainment has beat a number of major international promoters, including Live Nation Belgium and UK, to be crowned Pollstar Live’s International Promoter Of The Year.
The 27th Pollstar Live awards ceremony was held 12 February at the SF Masonic auditorium in San Francisco and Chugg was the only Australian nominated for the prestigious global industry award.
“I’m very proud to win this award, it’s a big statement for independent promoters, worldwide,” Chugg said.
“I’d like to thank everybody who voted for me and I would like to thank Matthew Lazarus-Hall and Susan Heymann, who lead an amazing team of people in our office as well as all of our business partners. It’s great to strike a blow for independents, it shows that loyalty is still alive in our industry.”

Lazarus-Hall stepped down as CEO of Chugg Entertainment last week.
Byron Bay favourite Bluesfest was also on the nominee list, vying for top place on the International Music Festival Of The Year category, alongside mammoth events such as Glastonbury, Rock am Ring and Download festivals, the title of which given to Glastonbury.
The nomination follows Bluesfest scoring gold at the NSW Tourism Awards last year for Best Major Festival and Event.
Sydney born comedian Jim Jefferies was also nominated, beaten by to Comedy Tour Of The Year title by heavyweight comic Amy Schumer, with other Australian talents AC/DC and electro duo Empire Of The Sun receiving recognition by nomination in other categories.
