The venerated local label will release the band's debut full-length in May
Melbourne-based indie-rock/garage revivalists Darts - Ally Campbell-Smith, Paige X. Cho, Jessie Fernandez and siblings Angus and Andrew Ayers - have done pretty well for themselves as an unsigned entity, but they're all set to taste greater rewards in the near future as the newest signing to venerated indie label Rice Is Nice Records.
Joining a cabal of acts that already includes the likes of The Laurels, Donny Benet, SPOD, Richard In Your Mind, Seekae, Straight Arrows and more, Darts come on board with Rice Is Nice a few months out from the release of their debut full-length album, Below Empty & Westward Bound.
Due for release on 15 May via Rice Is Nice, Below Empty & Westward Bound carries distinct sonic influences from the likes of early Modest Mouse, the Pixies, The Breeders and Dinosaur Jr, creating an aural mix that's sure to be as unfailingly exciting as it is eclectic.
Before the album drops, though, Darts are unveiling new single (and partial namesake) Westward Bound, the first track to be previewed from the album and as solid an introduction as any to a local act who are comprehensively on the upswing. Get amongst it below.
