Another Melbourne Venue Set To Close

Have a last pina colada before they close the doors

In sad news for those who loved partying among palm trees with a Mai Tai in hand, Fitzroy tiki bar The LuWOW has announced its closure this December.

As Time Out reports, the bar and live music venue will be "saying 'Aloha Oe' at Christmas, when the doors will close for good", with free entry for punters every Friday and Saturday from now until then.

Interestingly, it seems that at some point the 62-70 Johnston Street, Fitzroy block was proposed for redevelopment for 53 dwellings and six retail tenancies, but was ultimately refused by City of Yarra back in 2013.

The tropical wonderland will still have many gigs coming up before its closure, including The Bombay Royale and Tex Perkins' The Ape this August, along with their usual fixtures of Thursday night karaoke, live DJs and island-themed cocktails.
