Melbourne Music Week Unveils Full 2016 Program

Shihad, Elliphant, Mind Gamers, Seekae and maaaaany more

Off the back of news that Melbourne Music Week would be turning the State Library Victoria into a wonderland of music, arts and celebration this year, today the City Of Melbourne have unveiled their full nine-day program, chock full of performances from the likes of Shihad, Elliphant and more.

It's been 21 years since Kiwi veteran hard rockers Shihad dropped their debut album, though this year they're celebrating their most recent outing, FVEY. They'll be playing the record in full, while Swedish avant-garde pop star Elliphant will join Yeo and UV Boi وق بنفسجي at the Queen's Hall for a Valve Sounds showcase of modern R&B, soul and hip hop.

Elsewhere, you can catch industrial act Severed HeadsMind Gamers (Sebastien Tellier, Faniel Stricker and John Kirby) playing a free show, Dan Kelly, Sui Zhen and many others playing super stripped back sets as part of Hush: An Evening Of Quiet Music, Seekae, The Drones using the iconic and storied Grand Organ at the Melbourne Town Hall, Donny Benet at the helm of the Heaps Gay LGBTQI+ showcase, Allday, Ali Barter, Northeast Party House and Alex Lahey at the 10 Years Of triple j Unearthed party and much, much more.

Melbourne Music Week conveniently encapsulates both Face The Music and The Age Music Victoria Awards, both of which boast gigs of their own from the likes of Camp Cope, Tash Sultana and more.

Kicking everything off on opening night, the Her Sound, Her Story: A Celebration Of Women In Music event will also see powerful women like Julia Stone, Ella Hooper, Mama Kin, Montaigne, Mojo Juju, Ecca Vandal, Elizabeth Rose, Airling and Nyne take to the stage.
