Melanie CMelanie C brought her Sweat Release Parties to Leeds on Saturday (2 May), and fans in attendance were treated to a special guest appearance from Mel B.
The latter is a Leeds native, and together, the former Spice Girls joined forces for a surprise performance of the group’s 1997 #1 single, Spice Up Your Life, live at Leeds’ Project House. Melanie C handled the lead vocals while her former bandmate did the hyping up: “People of the world!” “Every boy and every girl!” chants heard across the room.
Before they officially launched into the performance—there was a microphone issue as Mel B hit the stage—Melanie C took a moment to highlight how “special” the performance with her former bandmate was. The pair last performed together in 2019, during Spice Girls’ reunion tour.

Since the show took place, both Melanie C and Mel B went on social media to outline the significance of their surprise reunion.
“Good to be back with my Spice sister @officialmelb in Leeds, thank you for sharing the stage with me,” Melanie C wrote, sharing footage of Spice Up Your Life. She also shared a behind-the-scenes video, which she captioned, “And you said you wasn’t going to get up! I knew you wouldn’t be able to resist a bit of Spice Up Your Life.”

Taking to Instagram, Mel B added, “went to support my northern sister on the launch of her AMAZIN album SWEAT…. and she only ended up bloody gettin me on stage!
“LUV YOUUU and sooo proud of you @melaniecmusic !!! everyone go out stream order buy her album coz its AMAZIN and so is she!!!!”
Melanie C responded in the comments, “MELANIE!!!! You made the night 🙌🙌🙌🙌 Thank you so much for getting up with me and your beautiful words. I love you.”
Melanie C’s new album, Sweat, was released on Friday (1 May). In November, she returns to Australia on her Sweat World Tour, with shows taking place in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Sydney.
