Kerser ProfileCampbelltown rapper Kerser has debuted at number one with his tour DVD this week, knocking off Pink and Andrew Rieu on the ARIA Music DVD charts.
The Western Sydney MC, who has developed a strong fan base without a lot of mainstream media coverage, shot to number one with The No Rest For The Sickest National Tour DVD. It sold substantially more that Pink's Funhouse Tour: Live In Australia and Rieu's Rieu Royale, which were number one and two last week and are now two and three this week respectively.
Released through Obese Records, who've previously had DVD chart success with The Hilltop Hoods and Funkoars, the label's Operations Manager Fern Greig-Moore told theMusic.com.au today, “The No Rest For The Sickest National Tour DVD was originally put together for a bit of fun and to tie up promotion for that particular album cycle. Neither label or artist had any idea of how well it would go.”
She added, “The response has been truly overwhelming, proving again the level of support Kerser has from fans all over the country.
“With little to no support from radio, media and industry peers, this result couldn't have happened to a better person. He is one of the hardest working, most humble artists I've had the pleasure to work with and whether you love him or hate him he continues to show the music industry that he's a force to be reckoned with.”
Elsewhere in the ARIA Charts, Bluesfest's John Mayer led Soundwave's Avenged Sevenfold into the top spots on the album rankings.
