The band were set to start touring next week and have vowed to go ahead.

ARIA nominated roots musician Paul Greene has confirmed some tragic news in a statement this morning, announcing that Matt Sykes, drummer for his group Paul Greene & The Other Colours, passed away after a tragic boating incident last week.

“Matt, what an amazing bloke you were," Greene said in this morning statement. "Talented on the piano and kora, and one of the best drummers I know; you lived for what you loved and never let money dictate your life; you knew how to love and put all your love into whatever you did. Our thoughts are with Beth, and your family. So glad I got to know you, mate.”

The band, which also features bassist Neil Beaver, were set to embark on a 16-date east coast tour as of next week and, though they are in deep shock and mourning, Greene and Beaver have decided to perform all dates in duo mode in tribute to the life and work of their departed friend.

“I am absolutely sure that's what Matt would have wanted," Greene said.
