A live-action comedy from the trio is underway!
South Park legends Matt Stone and Trey Parker are joining forces with Grammy-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar for a live-action comedy.
The untitled film is being produced by the trio alongside Dave Free, the co-founder of Lamar’s pgLang media company, and was written by long-running South Park producer and writer Vernon Chatman. A director is yet to be announced.
Chatman is the mastermind behind Adult Swim’s The Shivering Truth and co-created Wonder Showzen, Xavier: Renegade Angel, Trigger Warning With Killer Mike and Doggie Fizzle Televizzle With Snoop Dogg.
As Deadline reports, the new project “will see the past and present come to a head when a young Black man who is interning as a slave reenactor at a living history museum discovers that his white girlfriend’s ancestors once owned his”.
Paramount Pictures President & CEO Brian Robbins said: “We look forward to ushering in the first theatrical collaboration from these creative visionaries, and galvanizing audiences worldwide around a powerful storytelling experience."
The project is being produced for Paramount Pictures and follows news last year that Stone and Parker had signed a whopping $900 million US ViacomCBS deal for 14 original movies on Paramount+.
