Legendary punk-rock figure Marky Ramone will return to Australian shores for a six-date national run of shows, dubbed the Blitzkrieg tour, this November.
The venerated skinsman — who served as the Ramones' drummer from 1978-83 and again from 1987-96 — will exclusively be playing songs by the iconic US band; 36 of 'em, in fact.
"Every song we play, people are gonna know," Ramone said in a statement. "It extends from the first [1976 self-titled] album all the way to [1981's] Pleasant Dreams and [1989's] the Brain Drain album."
Despite the tunes' well-worn histories, Ramone says, he still gets fresh enjoyment out of busting out the hits for new audiences almost four decades after he first picked up sticks for the influential iconoclasts.
"I always enjoy playing these songs," he said. "The audiences get younger and younger, and it’s just a privilege to play to an audience that wasn’t around when we were together. Playing in front of 18-22-year-olds is great because they love the energy and the lyrical content… it’s fresh and new again. It’s a lot of fun.”
The November tour will kick off in Brisbane, and rock its way through Sydney, Melbourne, Frankston, Adelaide and Perth.
