The veteran US musician will take his blues-rock swagger to two standalone performances in a couple of months
Celebrated US musician and the ex-frontman of the Screaming Trees, Mark Lanegan, may be the other side of 50 these days, but he's lost none of the fire in his belly for live gigs, naming two headline Splendour In The Grass sideshows along with his festival appearance alongside his band this July.
The prolific creator — he has nine or 10 studio albums to his own name, depending who you ask, while conservative estimates put his contributions at somewhere around the 50-album mark — will hit Melbourne's Croxton Bandroom on Friday 22 July, travelling towards Byron to stop in at Sydney's Factory Theatre on Saturday 23 July ahead of his showing at Splendour.
Lanegan has led a fascinating, colorful, often turbulent life, which he has leveraged into honest, affecting blues-rock tunes for his solo pursuit, and garnered a reputation for being utterly unmissable on-stage, which you can measure for yourself by way of the live 4AD Session embedded below. Having worked with everyone from Queens Of The Stone Age (frequently) to Moby, UNKLE, Creature With The Atom Brain and so, so many more, it's little surprise that he's picked up a trick or two over the years — and left an indelible impact on countless fans and peers alike to boot.
Tickets for Mark Lanegan Band's Splendour sideshows — proudly presented by The Music in conjunction with RRR — will go on pre-sale from 10am on Tuesday 26 April, running until 8am on Wednesday 27 April. General-release tickets will be available at 9am on Wednesday 27 April via Secret Sounds Touring.
