More blink-182 More blink-182

Mark Hoppus has recently embarked on a new creative venture, the blink-182 star today announcing that he’s releasing a new memoir, Fahrenheit-182.

Announcing the release of the book on social media with a hilarious salesman video, Hoppus said in the presentation: “This book has everything. A young man born in the California desert joins a punk rock band and goes on to conquer the world. It’s got skateboarding, it’s got punk rock clubs, it’s got Nineties music. But that’s not all!”

If you pre-order now, Hoppus will throw in these addons at no extra cost to you: “Anxiety, depression, band breakups, loss of self, suicidal thoughts and ideation, and, of course, everyone’s favourite: cancer!”

He concluded, “This shit gets dark, so order your copy today and make sure you don’t miss out on all the small things,” referring to one of blink-182’s most famous tracks. “Oh, I forgot about that incredible antidote that I wrote in this book; that was amazing.”

The book will be released on Tuesday, 8 April 2025, via Dey Street. You can pre-order your copy here.

For Fahrenheit-182, Hoppus teamed up with music journalist and author Dan Ozzi (if you haven't already, check out his great book about punk rock, Sellout), who co-penned the book alongside the musician.

On his Substack, Ozzi described working with Hoppus as his “absolute dream project” and “probably the most fun” he’s ever had writing.

“I was actually very sad when we finished because I didn’t want it to end,” Ozzi wrote. “Mark really dug deep and put it all out there, and it shows. I am very proud and honored [sic] to have been on the team.

“The book is very funny in a way that you might expect, but it’s also very dark in a way that you might not expect. Or, as Mark very succinctly described it recently: ‘It’s a fun and funny book and then I almost die.’”

In mid-2021, Hoppus underwent treatment for stage 4 diffuse large B-cell lymphoma before confirming its success three months later. By September 2022, he was “clean” of cancer.

And yes, blink-182 announced that their classic line-up of Hoppus, drummer Travis Barker, and guitarist and co-vocalist Tom DeLonge had finally reunited once more in October 2022.
