The Perth-bred vocalist has taken the slight with grace
The opener for Mariah Carey's scheduled performance in Perth last night was dropped at the last minute allegedly because she's a woman, according to reports.
West Australian singer Natalia had been originally scheduled to perform for VIP attendees at a pre-show function before being bumped up to second opener, alongside previously booked support Nathaniel, on Friday last week.
However, as she told 2DayFM, Natalia was later informed that she would no longer be performing on the main stage, but that she would still be able to complete her originally scheduled set for the VIPs.
Natalia expressed her devastation over social media, but has taken the cut with grace, saying on Facebook that Carey "still is and always will be top of her game, no one can take that away", that Natalia herself is still "a massive fan", and still considers Carey "the voice".

"Absolutely devistated (sic) that @MariahCarey has pulled me from her stage because I am female for tomorrow nights show! My Idol and inspiration," she said on Twitter.
"Look, there was no contract, it was an absolute honour to just be told that I was going to be bumped up," she told 2DayFM.
"I thought she was amazing… she hit every high note at that show. I honestly thought why wouldn’t you support another act? No one is ever gonna steal the limelight but you could have kick-started something maybe for me and my career."
