Foxtel have enlisted Marcia Hines to be the face of their new music channel Smooth, which has evolved out of the smoothfm radio frequency.
In a revamp of the pay-TV music offering, the channel will launch Tuesday 3 December offering with an adult contemporary mission statement, the same day as MTV's new-look MTV Dance and MTV Music channels launch in Australia to replace their current channels – MTV Classic, MTV Hits and MTV Live.
Foxtel's General Manager Music Channels Shaun James said today, “Marcia Hines is one of Australia's most celebrated and respected musicians and she brings to Smooth both her artistic credentials and extensive knowledge and passion for music.”
“Firstly I'm very excited, I know that I'm going to enjoy working on Smooth,” Hines added. “Music has been a very large part of my life and continues to be, and to me, a day without music is what I call a sad day.”
The Smooth channel is a partnership between Foxtel and dmg Radio and will feature artists such as Michael Buble, Adele, Mariah Carey, Celine Dio and Whitney Houston.
