"We were minding our own business, having a really lovely night, and then he was unconscious on the floor."

A 33-year-old man is seriously injured after being hit in the back of a head outside a bar on Chapel Street, Prahran.

As The Age reports, the man suffered significant blood loss after hitting his head on the footpath, when a man in a group of "four or five men and one woman" allegedly hit him around 3am early Sunday morning as he passed by with his friend, Edwin Fox.

Fox told The Age, "We passed a bar and we literally just caught the eye of the wrong people … We were minding our own business, having a really lovely night, and then he was unconscious on the floor."

Stonnington Crime Investigation Unit's Detective Sergeant David Cox said, the perpetrator "circled the group and used his right fist to hit the back of the head in a one-punch, cowardly attack of this male who was just endeavouring to walk home with his friend".
