Cheap FakesFollowing a hugely successful launch in 2012, The Long Player Sessions return to Brisbane's Powerhouse this year, with an incredible selection of albums to be covered by an incredible selection of bands. The sessions are a fantastic initiative which encourage audiences to enjoy their favourite albums live on stage, in new forms.
This year's sessions will run on Friday 9, 16 and 23 August, where you can expect to see the following bands taking on the classics:
On Friday 9 August Cheap Fakes will bring their unique blend of pop/ska/funk to the soundtrack of Pulp Fiction, while Tylea will perform her own rendition of the soundtrack to Twin Peaks.
The following week on Friday 16 August, local troubadour Danny Widdicombe will boldly aim to conquer Jimi Hendrix's Axis: Bold As Love, and The Last Hotel will take on Black Crowes' The Southern Harmony Musical Companion.
The final week of performances on Friday 23 August will see the lovely Tara Simmons perform Portishead's classic record Dummy alongside the punk-infused Americana stylings of Charlie Horse who will cover PJ Harvey's To Bring You My Love.
So get along to the Powerhouse to catch one, two, or all of these incredible performances - guaranteed to impress!
