Lizzo Visits Hobbiton, Plays 'The Lord Of The Rings' Theme

Who knew that the recorder could actually sound good?

More Lizzo Lizzo Profile

Want to hear a recorder sound good for the first time in the musical instrument’s history? Head to Lizzo’s Instagram and watch her play the Lord Of The Rings theme.

Wearing a green costume, elf ears and a wig, the About Damn Time singer played Concerning Hobbits from The Lord Of The Rings in Hobbiton, the New Zealand tourist attraction for fans of the books and films. She performed a show at Auckland’s Spark Arena earlier this week.

Hobbiton, located in Matamata, was created for the Lord Of The Rings franchise, spearheaded by director Peter Jackson, and has been open for tourists since 2002.

“Lizzolas in her natural habitat,” Lizzo wrote on Instagram. The singer has received massive praise from artists and fans, from Grimes and Sam Smith “SCREAMING” to Katy Perry tagging her husband, Orlando Bloom, who plays Legolas in the original movie trilogy, writing that Lizzo was “comin fer yer jerb”.

A fan also commented, “As a flute player I’m so mad I grew up in the American pie generation and not the Lizzo one”. You can watch the footage below.

A few weeks ago, Lizzo hit a Melbourne karaoke bar and sang the Radiohead classic, Creep. She rocked it, of course, but it would be nice to hear someone cover a different Radiohead song occasionally.

Following a show at Rod Laver Arena on Tuesday (July 18), it seems Lizzo kept the party going at a local karaoke bar, where she belted out an impressive rendition of Creep, which earned her a round of applause from onlookers.

Posting the eventful evening to Instagram via a series of snaps and videos, she added in the caption, “What does Lizzo do after her shows…???”

Last Friday, Lizzo headlined Splendour In The Grass festival. Her set offered massive singalongs, “four outfit changes, an all-black all-lesbian band, and a dance troupe complete with a “bad bitch meditation”, crowd affirmations, and a hell of a lot of flute solos.” You can read The Music’s Splendour review here.
