Little BIGSOUND Announces 2017 Return & Ableton Partnership

The youth-focused BIGSOUND counterpart will hit The Edge, at South Bank, this July

In keeping with its general theme for 2017, even when BIGSOUND goes smaller, it goes bigger, announcing the return of the youth-centric Little BIGSOUND this morning with a completely revamped program and all-ages showcase event.

Designed to give 15-25-year-olds insight to and experience with the local music industry, Little BIGSOUND will take over The Edge, at South Bank, this July.

The event — which is orchestrated by the good people at QMusic, the same crew who help bring BIGSOUND to life each and every year — boasts a range of sessions held across the Innovation Lab, Digital Media Lab and Recording Studio to enable aspiring industry folk a chance to brush up on their knowledge about how to get gigs, publicise their tunes, improve their craft — be it songwriting or production — and manage their career development.

As part of the program, music-software mavens Ableton have partnered with Little BIGSOUND to give its young delegates access to range of programs and other technology through which to hone their skills on the day, along with provided tuition to get the most out of the opportunity.

Beyond the technical offerings, Little BIGSOUND will also provide a practical chance for up-and-comers to strut their stuff as part of the official showcase, at which several slots are being reserved for emerging artists to perform for industry professionals.

Applications are open now to artists under 25, closing at midnight on Sunday 11 June.

Little BIGSOUND will be held on Saturday 29 July; limited tickets are on sale now, and the full program is set to be announced in the near future.

(Non-little) BIGSOUND runs from 5-8 September across Fortitude Valley. See its website for more details.
