I got the horses in the back...
It's been everywhere and now Lil Nas X's Old Town Road has broken a massive hip hop record on the Billboard charts.
Surpassing See You Again by Wiz Khalifa featuring Charlie Puth (2015), Boom Boom Pow by The Black Eyed Peas (2009), and Lose Yourself by Eminem (2002-03), which all stayed at #1 for 12 weeks, it is the now the longest reigning hip hop song atop the Billboard Hot 100.
That marks 13 straight weeks in the top spot. It is the 12th single in the six-decade history of the chart to do so and the first since 2017's Despacito by Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee featuring Justin Bieber. Despacito currently holds the record alongside Mariah Carey and Boyz II Men's One Sweet Day, both spending 16 weeks at #1.
Back home, Old Town Road remains on top of the ARIA Singles chart, now for its tenth straight week.
Lil Nas X made a surprise appearance at Miley Cyrus' Glastonbury set with Billy Ray Cyrus to perform the track.
