'If I'm The Devil...' was released late last month to the usual critical acclaim that these guys receive whenever they do something, as they're essentially the post-hardcore version of Dave Grohl saying things. Just like with past albums,'Fake History' (AKA The Best One) and 'The Blackest Beautiful', this new record has had the band's name in the mouth of many people. Whether it be for a shower of accolades on how good and mature it is or for criticising them for the lack of aggressive and heavier moments on this new record. You can read our review of' If I'm The Devil... here if for some reason you doubt that it's good and you need to be swayed.
Anyway, during the release announcement of the documentary, the band said this about the short film:
"Upon the release of "If I'm The Devil..." we have made it a point to provide alternative ways to experience the record. Today we bring to you a short documentary filmed by another creative who holds his craft as dearly as we do ours. Please enjoy this piece filmed by Ryan Mackfall | Director and please share it with those you feel should be aware."
The 30-minute doco (found below) shows the band, namely Jason Aalon Butler, discussing very openly and honestly the themes and meaning behind the new album, as well as their headspace moving forward from 'If I'm The Devil...'. Along with some great cinematography, this documentary also shows off just how bat-shit insane the stage antics of Butler's can get.
