Leonard Cohen Is Set To Drop A Brand New Album In The Coming Months

People are already calling it a "masterpiece".

More Leonard Cohen Leonard Cohen

He hasn't released an album since 2014, but it appears veteran Canadian songwriter Leonard Cohen is gearing up to drop his fourteenth studio album sometime this year.

As Flavorwire pointed out, a statement posted to Facebook on Friday confirmed that the 82-year-old artist will release a collection of "haunting new songs" for an LP titled You Want It Darker.

The album is already being described as a "masterpiece" and it's expected to drop sometime between September and November.

Cohen's past two offerings, 2014's Popular Problems and 2012's Old Ideas, both peaked at #1 in the US, while they also peaked at #6 and #2 respectively in Australia.

The news comes only days after it was revealed the acclaimed singer penned a heartfelt farewell letter to Marianne Ihlen, the woman who inspired his lauded track So Long, Marianne, in the days before her death last month.
