Legion Music Fest "fully funded", to go ahead

Organisers of new national upstart music event Legion Music Fest have today announced the festival is "fully funded", with the inaugural run to take place as planned in 2017.

Initially slated to occur in 2016, following the demise of Soundwave, those involved with the event then pushed back the festival to allow further time to plan.

The festival originally sort funding via a Pozible campaign, however, that crowdfunding outlet is now closed, with required funds since sorted.

“Given that it took longer than anticipated to lock in a headline act, along with a number of other external forces going on in the industry at the moment, we realised that, even though these issues made it very difficult for us to reach our goal in time, the campaign support had given us all the leverage necessary to move forward and fund and confirm the festival," founder John Sankey said.

Ticket prices and on sale dates are due for release shortly, with further bands also set to be announced. 31 bands will play across three stages at the east coast events, while the Adelaide and Perth dates will see a reduced set-up.
