Legendary '70s Punk Band The Victims Announce Final Tour Dates

Beloved Perth ‘70s punk band The Victims – Dave Faulkner’s other band – have announced their final Australian tour dates.

The Victims, comprising Hoodoo Gurus frontman Dave Faulkner, OG Hoodoo Gurus drummer James Baker (The Scientists, The Beasts Of Bourbon) and Hard-Ons bassist Ray Ahn, will bid their Melbourne and Sydney fans farewell this December after receiving a send-off from their Perth fans in June.

The tour announcement follows the band’s recent release of their final single, Girls Don’t Go For Punks, a rousing minute-and-a-half banger. You can check it out below.

The Victims will perform at the Brunswick Ballroom in Melbourne on Friday, 1 December, and Sydney’s Crowbar on Saturday, 2 December. As a press release notes, “And then they're done.” Wollongong outfit Chimers will join The Victims at both shows.

In 2020, The Victims reunited 40 years after their original formation and released the EP Horror Smash.

The Horror Smash EP featured new recordings of some old band demos, “plus another from back in the day that was never put to tape, captures the same energy and humour and absolutely relentless attack,” the band revealed in a press release.

The Victims delivered the hit single Television Addict and one EP before they called it quits in mid-1978.

In the liner notes for In The Red's collection of ‘70s Victims recordings, punk collector and Dirtbombs drummer and Third Man Records’ Ben Blackwell wrote:

So for a group of Australians, excitable as the frontline first wave of kids responding to both the Ramones and the Sex Pistols (yet still influenced by the New York Dolls and Stooges and Flamin’ Groovies), who existed for but barely for a year from 1977-1978 and wrote songs about serial killers, high school girls and hating disco…well, I’d argue they are the most perfect punk band ever.
