Leading Performers For New Beginnings 2016 Line Up Announced

Sydney World Music Chamber Orchestra, Heartdancers, Mythra Ensemble and more.

Some of the industries' most prolific artists from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds will showcase their talents in celebration of the talent, skills and cultural heritage of people from refugee backgrounds. 

Confirmed artists for the expanded 2016 New Beginnings: Refugee Arts & Culture Festival have been drawn from backgrounds ranging from the Middle East, Africa, Asia and more. 

Three separate events will span Sydney, including a one day arts and culture festival on 18 June at Tumbalong Park in Darling Harbour with live music, dance and workships as will as performances from the Sydney World Music Chamber OrchestraHeartdancers, Mythra EnsembleLucky African DanceIraqi Cultural Festival Folkloric Group and more. 

The inaugural 2015 event had more than 1000 people in attendance, leading to this years' expansion. As part of Open Marrickville 2016, an art exhibition extending from 17-26 June in Camperdown's Chrissie Cotter Gallery will display visual art, photography, multimedia, installation works and film screenings, including a special closing event on the final Sunday.
