Speaking exclusively with Team Rock recently, original Metallica manager Jon 'Jonny Z' Zazula observed that the band discussed the possibility of having Ulrich front the band, due to concerns over James Hetfield's on-stage nerves.

Isn't this a sliding doors moment, if ever they was one.

Lars Ulrich, frontman of Metallica? Doesn't quite have the same appeal...but, hey, maybe if it did eventuate we might have been treated to a better quality of snare on 'St.Anger'.

Speaking exclusively with Team Rock recently, original Metallica manager Jon 'Jonny Z' Zazula observed that the band once discussed the possibility of having Ulrich front the band, due to concerns over James Hetfield's on-stage nerves at the time.

"James wasn't the most confident of singers. I don't think he felt comfortable," Zazula told the aforementioned publication.

"At one point there was even talk of Lars becoming the frontman. For about five seconds," he added.
