The much-loved Australian festival is having a crack at the American market.
The St Jerome's Laneway Festival looks to be taking a shot at replicating its anitpodean and South East Asian success by becoming the first Australian festival to expand into the US market.
The festival organisers today confirmed they will bring the event to an as yet unannounced, but apparently quintessentially American, city in 2013. Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio, who co-promote the festival with Chugg Entertainment, issued a statement expressing their great excitement at this expansion.
“Coming to America is a big moment for Laneway and is the first time an Australian festival has been launched into North America. We are delighted to be working with our partners, who are some of the best operators in the industry and their vision will be integral to the event's success” they said. "We're also really looking forward to getting behind Australasian artists and helping them continue the amazing run of success Aussie acts have had in the States recently."
The festival will announce more details at a launch party at South By Southwest later this month, it was announced today. The party will feature performances from a mix of Australian and international acts, including Alpine, Blessed Feathers, CHVRCHES, Flume, Guards, Haerts, Merchandise, No Ceremony///, Palma Violets, Parquet Courts, Vance Joy and xxyyxx.
