The times they are a'changin'.
Laneway Melbourne might have to shift from its long-standing location due to ever-expanding city developments and pressure put on organisers to move.
The Victorian leg of the festival has called Footscray Community Arts Centre on the banks of the Maribyrnong River home since 2010 when it outgrew from its original namesake location in Caledonian Lane.
As Sydney Morning Herald reports, concerns are blossoming over the number of apartment buildings being built around the festival grounds as well as the effect the construction of new truck ramps as part of the $6.7 billion West Gate Tunnel project will have on the location.
As the surrounding areas become more congested, organisers have had to reduce the number of tickets sold, 15,000 compared to 20,000 in other states, and have handed out approximately $100,000 worth of tickets to 700 residents.
