Slack-rocker Mac DeMarco got caught in a bit of controversy over the weekend, with the singer-songwriter detained by police at one of his own shows in Los Angeles.

According to Pitchfork (via The Santa Barbara Independent), DeMarco was detained at his UC Santa Barbara gig at the venue Hub on Friday night after he climbed onto the venue's ceiling with the help of some fans in the crowd. The muso wasn't charged over the incident but two other people in the crowd were arrested that evening over incidents involving the police and security guards.

DeMarco posted the below image on his Instagram a day after the incident.

The muso will hit Australian shores in late January for St Jerome's Laneway and a couple of headline appearances. Details can be found in theGuide and The Music App.
