More L-FRESH The LION More L-FRESH The LION

As we inch closer to the release of his first body of work in over four years, South-West Sydney hip hop artist, producer and community figure L-FRESH The LION unveils a sneak peek with his new single RED LIGHTS featuring Egyptian-Australian artist Nardean.

Riding the momentum of his previous single FLY ABOVE IT in March, L-FRESH’s powerful new track makes a bold statement of independence and creative defiance.

Produced by Charlotte Adelle, and co-produced by L-FRESH and Zig Parker, the song speaks on industry matters, specifically directing attention to those who have had to navigate industry barriers and gatekeepers. The track emboldens others to reject the status quo by ignoring rules, expectations and limitations set onto artists by the music industry. Instead, L-FRESH instructs those willing to listen to craft out their own path that is embraced by clarity, courage and conviction.

“I kick off the song with the lyrics, “There was no road so I made one, been running red lights since day 1,”” said L-FRESH. “That bar sets the tone—it’s about ignoring the barriers, the gatekeepers, and following your own vision, no matter what.”

L-FRESH’s brazen energy is balanced by Nardean’s breathy, raw vocal and lyrical presence; the essence of the song packaged together by hypnotic synths, pulsing 808s and hard-hitting, percussive textures courtesy of Charlotte. Together, the song holds itself in utmost grit and grace, offering elements of sonic fire and water that bring the song to a cooling simmer by the time it comes to a close.

RED LIGHTS follows up L-FRESH’s first single in four years FLY ABOVE IT, both of which are set to feature on his forthcoming EP REINCARNATED. While L-FRESH speaks on tackling personal, professional and developmental challenges on FLY ABOVE IT, he boasts a heftier jab at those challenges on RED LIGHTS. Continually working to reinvent himself, elevate his craft, and refusing to be boxed in, both singles serve as kindling to a larger fire stored within REINCARNATED. While he has been able to preview the EP live during recent shows in Canada and New York, we hope to see the artist in full staunchness once the project unleashes later this year.

L-FRESH The Lion’s new single RED LIGHTS featuring Nardean is out now via all streaming platforms.
