The lauded local rapper is one of only two acts to crack the LP rankings this week
Celebrated Aussie rapper L-FRESH The LION has seen a strong debut result for new album Become, stepping out at #4 in this week's album ladder on the Carlton Dry Independent Music Charts.
It's the highest entry across both the full-length and singles rankings, with L-FRESH also making an entry appearance on the latter list with new track 1 In 100,000, which makes its debut at #17. Although he nabbed the highest album debut for the week, local songstress Gordi turns in the highest new entry amongst singles, with her new cut emerging at #5.
There are only two more debuts — one each — on the charts, with Alex Lahey rounding out the singles newcomers with You Don't Think You Like People Like Me (#19), and Ocean Alley landing at the full-length halfway mark with Lost Tropics makign its debut at #10.
There are a handful of re-entries to speak of — Sheppard's indomitable track Geronimo makes a reappearance, apropos nothing, on the singles list at #20, while Hermitude's Dark Night, Sweet Light (#18) and Seth Sentry's Strange New Past (#20) return to the albums chart for their respective 53rd and 49th week in the rankings — but the long-time power players remain relatively unchanged: Sia stays at #1 on the albums chart with This Is Acting, followed by a strengthening from The Cat Empire (Rising With The Sun, up two spots to #2) and persistence from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, staying strong at #3 with Nonagon Infinity. The Screaming Jets' first album in eight years, Chrome, slips a few rungs but stays highly placed at #5.

Although Sia's album presence has shrunk a bit in recent weeks (1000 Forms Of Fear is also still charting, at #6 this week), her singles results remain strong, netting four placings for the chanteuse: #2 (Cheap Thrills), #6 (Alive), #7 (Chandelier) and #10 (Elastic Heart). Flume is only one entry behind, but sits atop the pile at #1 with Say It, ft. Tove Lo, as well as holding steady with Never Be Like You, ft. Kai, at #3, and Smoke & Retribution, ft. Vince Staples & Kucka, at #12. The Temper Trap round out top-five occupants for the singles ladder, with Fall Together staying in place to take #4 again this week; their earlier single, Thick As Thieves, is also still ranking, slipping three spots to #15.
