More Kylie Minogue More Kylie Minogue

Kylie Minogue's latest album, DISCO, has secured the iconic Australian artist some very big chart records at the weekend.

Debuting at #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart, Minogue has secured the record of the most ARIA Chart #1 albums by an Australian female artist as well as holding onto the status of Australia's highest selling female artist.

DISCO - Minogue's 15th studio album - follows up 2018's Golden which was also a chart topper. Other ARIA Chart #1 albums include Light Years (2000), Fever (2001), X (2007), Kiss Me Once (2014) and Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection (2019).

Additionally, Minogue has also taken out the #1 spot on this week's ARIA Vinyl Charts, ahead of Midnight Oil, Gorillaz, Bruce Springsteen and Shackles.

“Congratulations to one and only Kylie Minogue on her seventh ARIA #1 Album," said ARIA CEO Dan Rosen.

"It is incredible to think of the success she’s had throughout her stellar career, and that after over three decades as an artist she is still at the top of her game.

"Her new album is a much needed injection of fun in a challenging year, even if many of us can only dance in our living rooms. It is clear that Australians are still in love with our Kylie and it’s brilliant to see her back on top of the ARIA Charts."

Minogue has also secured a huge record in the UK too as DISCO hits #1 in the territory as well.

According to the Official Chart, Minogue is now the first female artist to score a #1 on the UK’s Official Albums Chart in five consecutive decades - in the ‘80s, ‘90s, ‘00s, ‘10s and ‘20s.

DISCO joins the list alongside 1988's Kylie, 1989's Enjoy Yourself, 1992's Greatest Hits, 2001's Fever, 2010's Aphrodite, 2018's Golden and 2019's Step Back In Time: The Definitive Collection.

The only other artist to achieve this is Springsteen, who recently landed at #1 with his latest offering Letter To You

In addition to achieving the record, DISCO also marks the biggest opening week on the UK charts for 2020 with 55,000 chart sales. Additionally, this is also Minogue's biggest opening week in 10 years (2010's Aphrodite) as well as "one of the fastest-selling vinyl albums of the year" with 13,500 copies sold.

"I don’t know what to say, I’m lost for words, thank you to everyone who has supported this album and this campaign, it means the world to me," said Minogue of the UK record.

"I'm so touched that it's made it’s way to your hearts. I love it!"

DISCO has also landed at #1 in Scotland, #3 in Germany, #4 in Ireland, #6 in Belgium, #8 in France and #9 in New Zealand.
