Brother-sister duo Gnome have won Sydney Festival's Soundtrack Competition.

Gnome is a new project that features one half of experimental pop outfit, Kyü, Freya Berkhout and her brother Elias Berkhout. Their single Picnic! will be featured as the soundtrack for Sydney Festival video, online and on air promos.

The single was handpicked by a panel of judges including Zan Rowe (triple j), Dan Zilber (FBi Radio), Ralph van Dijk (Eardrum Australia) and Megan Washington (singer/songwriter) - from over 70 entries.

Gnome now join Sufjan Stevens, Reggie Watts, Beach House, The Middle East and Kaki King, who have all had their music featured as the Sydney Festival soundtrack.

Picnic! will be unleashed alongside the full Sydney Festival program launch on Tuesday 23 October.
