The Spaceape has lost a long battle with cancer
Vocalist, MC and poet Stephen Samuel Gordon, better known as The Spaceape, has passed away after a battle with a rare form of cancer.
The musician is probably best known for his frequent collaborations with UK electronic producer and DJ Kode9, who founded the famed Hyperdub record label. The pair released a handful of collections together through Hyperdub including 2011's Black Sun and most recently, the Killing Season EP.
Hyperdub released a statement on their Facebook earlier this morning about Gordon's passing, which said the artist had battled cancer for five years.

"His Hyperdub family will always miss him," the post read.
Gordon also released material solo, including an EP, Xorcism, in 2012. He also collaborated with a number of other artists, including London act Burial on 2006's Spaceape.
